The first three songs in this album are all based on stories in Lafcadio Hearn’s book Kwaidan. This song corresponds to Of a Mirror and a Bell, which is based on the Japanese folklore story of the “Bell of Mugen”. Many of the references in this song are difficult to explain without knowing the story, so I urge you to read it first following the link above. Note that Hearn’s recount of the story does not mention the belief that, although ringing the bell brings good fortune in this life, the ringer will fall into Avīci (deepest layer of Buddhist hell) once they die. 本专辑中前三曲皆是基于小泉八云《怪谈》所创作。本曲对应《怪谈・镜与钟》（Of a Mirror and a Bell），其中记载的是日本民间故事「无间之钟」。强烈推荐阅读原著（或中文译本）以更好地理解本曲歌词。

その鐘の音が響く そのごとにまた 魂は地獄を逝く	每度钟声响起 便又有一人魂魄 前往地狱	With each Ringing of the bell, Another soul goes to hell.
それでなお 鳴り止むことなく 御山を揺らして 浅ましき希(ねがい)が 無間の悲鳴となって	即便如此 钟声也从未停过 连高山都为之震摇 卑鄙的希求(愿望) 化作无间地狱的悲鸣	Nevertheless, The bell never stops ringing, Its sound shaking the mountain, As despicable wishes Become wailings in Avīci.
鳴らせど　鳴らせど 絶えず続かせよ その眼(め)が幻視(み)るのが あやしき金でも　いいじゃないか　なあ　そうだろうよ？	敲响吧 敲响吧 莫要中断 就算那双眼幻视(看)到的财宝 来路可疑 没人会在乎 不是吗？	Ring it, ring it, Don’t ever stop ringing. Even if what those eyes hallucinate(see) Are suspicious fortunes – who cares, isn’t that right?
かなしき鐘の音 ただ求めるものは 明日にも来世の名残だけ	钟声何等悲伤 所追求的不过是留下 能延续至来世的痕迹	How sad does the bell ring! They only wish to leave a trace That lasts into their next life.
かなしき鐘の音 とどめんがためならと 縁無き衆生 呪えよ沼の底から	钟声何等悲伤 想要那一切停止的话 就从沼泽之底 诅咒固执的无缘众生吧	How sad does the bell ring! If you wish to stop it, Then curse those stubborn people[1] From the bottom of the swamp.
その鐘の音なくとも 聞こえる音を 魂に描くのなら	就算没有钟声 若在灵魂深处 仍能依稀听见那声音	Even when the bell is not ringing, If you can still hear that sound Deep in your soul…
それでなお 追い求め続く 愚か者の顔 省みて悔いさす 鏡などどこにもない	即便如此 愚者们仍未停下 追逐的脚步 而用于反省悔过的镜子 早已不复存在	Nevertheless, Foolish pursuers Still show their faces, one after another, Without a mirror anywhere to be seen For them to reflect upon theirselves.
憂き世は憂き世と 地獄に墜ちても その沙汰だってよ 金次第というなら　いいじゃないか　なあ　そうだろうよ？	尘世悲苦无常 坠入地狱又如何 如果有钱 能使鬼推磨 那不也挺好 不是吗？	The world of living is a painful one, So falling into hell – If, as they say, money makes hell Go round too – it wouldn’t be so bad, isn’t that right?
こわせこわせ手水鉢 こわせこわせ泥の鐘 その願い叶うまで さあ精々頑張るんだね！	打碎吧 打碎那洗手钵 打碎吧 打碎那泥塑钟 愿望不实现 可千万别罢休！	Break it! Break it! Break the wash basin! Break it! Break it! Break the clay bell! Do your best Until your wishes come true!
それでなお おのれの行末 思い描けずに その甕(かめ)の淵から 広がる地獄を覗け	尽管如此 你也从未思考过 自己最终的去路 那就从这瓮底深渊 偷瞧下无边地狱吧	Nevertheless, You never wondered What the future holds for you. So, from the depth of this jar, Peek into the vast expanse of hell.
今さら何さら 慄くものだろ お前がいつかは 行く場所というだけ　じゃないか　なあ　そうだろうよ？	都到这一步了 还有什么好颤慄的 那不过是你 终将去到的地方而已 不是吗？	After all this time, It’s too late to be shaking now! That’s just the place You are going to one day – isn’t that right?

1. Stubborn people: 縁無き衆生 is likely taken from the idiom 縁なき衆生は度し難し, literally meaning “Even Buddha cannot redeem those who do not believe in him”, which became an expression for stubborn people who do not listen to other people.
